Gift One: The Quilt

The 1930s Nine-Patch top is done! I'm going to attempt the machine quilting myself on this one. Fingers crossed.
Gift Two: Mother and Child
One of my favorite expecting mothers just celebrated her big 30 so I wanted to paint her something special. Sapling is sweet and small piece honoring motherhood. In addition to watercolor and ink I used some of my antique marbled paper and cut up flowers from a sheet of lovely Japanese paper.
Gift 3: Cake and Cookies
My little sister had an early birthday party last night. The cake, while pretty, is a recipe that I think I'll avoid in the future. There are better ways to use up super sweet vanilla yogurt. I also whipped up a batch of my favorite sugar cookies and frosting. They turned out great, like crack on a plate.
Gift Four: Inspiration
While at Colleen's party some guests had wonderful feedback and compliments on five of my older architectural paintings that my little sis has hanging around her loft (yeah, it's like my personal art gallery over there!). It got me toying with the idea of mixing my trees and roots up with some buildings. Hence the sketches for Across the Street (above) and Sidewalk (below).
I'll be completing these on the two remaining cabinet doors I found at the Rebuilding Center.
