There’s a lot to love these days. Family, friends, and decorative paper. I’ve been consumed by the heart this month in preparation for what is usually my least favorite holiday: Valentine’s Day.

Here’s a neat piece of sheet music I found a couple of weeks ago at William Temple. Lucille Love Valse Boston or Hesitation. (Copyright 1914 by La Salle Music Pub Co., Chicago, IL.)
I want my hair to look like hers.
I recently completed a series of handmade painted cards using my collection of late 19th century marbled paper and a variety of Japanese papers. Here are a few favorites:

Then I ordered some 1960s envelopes from one of my favorite vintage shops on Etsy: Portuguese Vintage.

I used the inner lining to start a set of little paper heart cards with blank backs for love notes.

So my big 35 is next week which gives me both cause for celebration and an opportunity to figure out what I've done with my life so far, why it has led me here, and where I plan to go with it. Here’s a little magic unicorn I painted due to my impending mid-life crisis.

My goal this year is inspired by my friend Paige. She is attempting to create one little piece of art each day. I’m going to try that out and at the end of the week post my creations here.
Happy New Year!
