My shadow box and I recently had a heart to heart chat.
You see, just last week a friend of a friend of a friend (just so we are completely unclear of who this friend is) referred to my shadow box, and the collection it held, as kitschy. As any awesome old Coco-Cola crate would be after a proclamation such as this, my shadow box was greatly offended.

“It’s not like I house garden gnomes,” it exclaimed in exasperation, “Which I have nothing against personally. The traveling gnome in Amelie always puts a smile on my face.”
I decided to save the discussion of crates and facelessness for another rainy afternoon.
Perhaps my miniature angry nun, ceramic cow, and flute playing angel are simply misunderstood. They are so small after all and need to be examined closely.
In order to defend the honor of my collection, I have provided some studies of them below.
Low brow crap or high art? You decide.

More of my miniatures, such as Cavallo below, can be viewed on my flickr page.

Now, if you want to see some real kitschy art I suggest some works by the King of Kitsch, Jeff Koons. Nothing seems too ridiculous for him to reproduce on a massive scale.
